The exhibition in Tongeren is live !

The Terra Mosana exhibition has been launched on August 7th at the Church of our Lady in presence of the press and the mayor of Tongeren.

Patrick Dewael, mayor of Tongeren: ‘This project is co-financed by Interreg and the province of Limburg. In Tongeren we focus on reconstructions and impressions of the late Roman basilica and two successive churches from the early Middle Ages, with their immediate surroundings. In November 2020, we were already able to show the first results of this wonderful project. Now the public can actively experience Terra Mosana. Our role in this project is also clear. Apart from making our own heritage more accessible in a contemporary way, we want to emphasise our uniqueness as a historical city within the Euregio Meuse-Rhine’.

Gerard Stassen, Alderman for Heritage: ‘In the space under the belfry tower, we will introduce you to Terra Mosana for the first time. 3D images and an interactive game will take you to the Meuse-Rhine region. The highlights of this region, from ‘vlaai’ to mining, will leave you longing for more. In the Gasthuiskapel, a touch screen will take you to a digital environment in Roman and early medievalTongeren. You can also discover this era through VR glasses and you can also get your passport stamped here’.

The exhibition is open to public from Saturday 7 August to Sunday 31 October, every day from 9 am to 5 pm.
