Liège is rich of more than a millennium of History ! Learn more about the evolution of the city, with a specific focus on the Cathedral Saint Lambert, thanks to not one but two different digital experiences.
3D Experience in the Archeoforum of Liège
Did you know that, until the 18th century, a huge cathedral sat in the middle of the Place Saint Lambert? It was built around the year 700 AD. The cathedral was named after the bishop Lambert, who was killed and later buried in this so called cathedral. Unfortunately, the cathedral Saint Lambert has been destroyed, stone by stone, in 1794. It is still a strong symbol of the power of Liège over the past centuries.
You will discover the evolution of the cathedral and his area over the years in 3D thanks to virtual and augmented reality. This experience also aims to highlight the common history that unites the 4 cities of the Euregio, from their founding to their existence as successive centres of power over the ages. It will take place naturally at the Archeoforum, a remarkable archaeological area under the Place Saint-Lambert which highlight the vestiges of the city.

3D Experience in Grand Curtius
A reproduction of the place Saint-Lambert and its surrounding in the 18th century will be installed in "Le Grand Curtius". You will also take part in the augmented and virtual reality experiences and discover in immersion Liège at that time . Find out the architecture, the culture heritage of the inhabitants life as they were 3 centuries ago! This reproduction can be explored with AR on a smartphone device. A 100% immersive experience with innovative virtual reality goggles will emerge you for a sightseeing in the streets, as if you were there !

Over 5,000 m2 of floor-space, Le Grand Curtius plays host to the prestigious collections of the former weapons, glassware, archaeology, decorative arts, religious arts and Mosan arts museums.The quantity and quality of the specimens on display and in reserve make it one of the finest art and history museums in Belgium.
It’s in the courtyard of Le Grand Curtius that you can take part in the augmented and virtual reality experience of the discovering of the city center of Liège in the 18th century. Discover the architecture, the culture heritage of the inhabitants life as they were at that time !
THE HILLSIDE OF
THE CITADEL
The Hillside of the Citadel is the green lungs of the city near to the historical centre and it offers unique views of Liège and the Meuse Valley. In a combination of nature and heritage, the hillside is home to some of the city’s emblematic monuments.
THE GUILLEMINS RAILWAY STATION
A majestic railway station, designed by the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, was inaugurated in 2009. This major architectural statement is indisputably one of the most beautiful stations in Europe and a symbol of Liège’s renewal.
SAINT-BARTHOLOMEW COLLEGIATE CHURCH
The Saint-Bartholomew Collegiate Church, built out of coaly sandstone in the 11th and 12th centuries, was restored at the start of the 2000s. Although it has been transformed as the centuries have passed, the collegiate church is still one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Liège.

Liège is close to you and is served by a very dense network of transport links (a motorway hub, high-speed train lines, Euroregional airport, etc.), putting it within your curiosity’s reach. Thalys, ICE and Inter City trains make it very easy to reach Germany, France, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
By train
Liège-Guillemins is the high speed train station.
There are high speed trains from Paris, Brussels, Cologne and Amsterdam and regional and intercity trains from most Belgian cities. You can easily reach the city center by taking the train to the station Liège Saint-Lambert.
If you want to see the beautiful modern station of Guillemins and then going to the city center you can stop at Guillemins station and taking the bus 4 or 1 or the river shuttle to the city center (where there is both Terra Mosana Experiences).

By air
Liège-Bierset Airport
Brussels National Airport (Zaventem) or Brussels South Airport (Charleroi), then take a train to Liège (approx. 1 hour).
To get to the centre from the airport: bus No 57.
By car
Liège is easily and quickly reachable due to the transnational motorways.
